The original museum was itself an ‘exhibit’ with exposed plumbing and duct work so guests could see how the building worked. It earned an Owens-Corning National Energy Conservation honor award in 1978. According to Predock, Architect of the 1995 addition, “It’s a building that has as its purpose science, the answering of questions, the exploring of the mysterious. That’s what science and this museum is all about. That’s what the building had to be.”
The Museum was listed on the AIA Florida Top 100 Buildings List: 100 Years, 100 Places.
